Yahoo continues to buy out companies- Xobni contact management company

Yahoo carries on buying high profile companies, this time it acquired "smart" email service Xobni for $30 million.

Yahoo Inc purchased email and address book management app Xobni, this is the third acquisition of the Internet Company in many days as it looks to refurbish its online products and enhance its Web traffic.

Yahoo stated that it will incorporate Xobni’s technology into its communications products, together with the mobile and PC versions of its email and instant messaging services.

Yahoo did not divulge the financial terms of the deal, which the technology blog AllThingsD pegged at $30 million to $40 million. Yahoo stated that 31 Xobni employees will be joining Yahoo, together with Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bonforte, who formerly worked at Yahoo.

The deal is the most recent in series of acquirements by Yahoo since Marissa Mayer became chief executive a year ago, promising to increase traffic to Yahoo’s online services and to refurbish the company’s sluggish profit growths.

Yahoo, who has approximately 11,000 employees, has obtained more than a dozen small, Web start ups through the past year, focusing predominantly on adding technology and services planned for smart phones and tablets.
